Hiding

It's pouring down rain as I write this, and the grey sky turned my thoughts away from an idea I had in mind, and to a completely different subject. So, I pulled up this picture, and it is a tool that I have used in my seminars.

I once wrote in my book, Absolute Bliss, that, "Children tend to like themselves, until someone makes them a skeptic". Yet, it is not only limited to children. It also occurs to adults.

I believe that most individuals have had experiences where their sense of "self" has been trodded upon. Sometimes in life-altering ways, and sometimes in smaller, less noticeable ways. Yet, even the smallest of episodes can have a major impact on how we deal with the same types of situations in the future.

The consequence is that we humans often choose to go into "hiding", for lack of better words. We become timid in certain areas of life. We can also experience future irritation, or anger in these types of situations. However, this is not exactly the same thing as being pro-active toward a solution, and especially if it becomes a consistent, and chronic reaction.

I was about to steer this down into a deeper theoretical discussion, but I changed my mind. Let's keep it simple and open, and to fulfill the purpose of letting all minds "chew" on these thoughts, and self-reflect. It then becomes what you need it to be.

My question to you is this. When has this happened in your life? Some of you will already know, as a result of a process of awareness, and development. If this is you, there may be other situations that you are less aware of. Again, the seemingly non-important episodes often have a greater impact than we realize.

I'm going to follow this one up after the weekend. Just by reading this, your mind has already begun the journey to find an answer. Or perhaps, several. See what pops in during the weekend. In any way, or form.

Take a look at that picture once again. What is your initial reaction?

These types of reflections are quite personal, so I'm not exactly expecting a flood of comments. However, for those of you that would like to jump in with any thoughts, please do.
