Fery Tjahyono. Internet thief. Does Fery have your content?

OK, everyone. Listen up!

I am taking a break from my regular writing subjects, to pass an announcement on to everyone. It is an important announcement about an Internet thief by the name of, Fery Kurniawan Tjahyono.

I am mentioning this thief, because of the magnitude of this person's network of sites.

I was browsing through my Technorati pages yesterday evening, and noticed a blog reaction from an unknown source. Upon clicking to this site, I came to a blog with several of my most recent posts. Not just excerpts, links, or partial content, but entire posts.

I used the evening to investigate, and my search led me to Fery on Technorati owning 90 blogs with stolen content. The subjects of the sites range from personal writing, to technical blogs, marketing, art, etc. I cannot even remember them all, as there were so many. That which is peculiar, is the way the content is posted, and it gives the impression that entire feeds and traffic is being redirected to the sites (an assumption). The system seems to be automated, and is most likely necessary as there are so many sites to keep up. Fery is using this 90 site network to earn money through Adsense, and who knows how many more sites there are. Technorati has 90 listed.

The story does not end there. After tracing Fery's information, writing him/her e-mails about stolen content, asking that my content be removed, and informing Adsense and Technorati, I called it a night. However, there was still something nagging at me this morning, so I continued my search. I did a search on this person's name, and a few interesting links showed up. The first article was by Danny Brown, a blogger that has recently had the same problem with Fery. Danny wrote a post entitled, Fery Kurniawan Tjahyono and the case of the Internet thief...
Another link presented the information that Fery is making enormous amounts of Adsense money from the stolen content of others.

Personally, I would like to know when others run across 'big' thieves, such as Fery. It gives people the chance to check to see if their content is stolen, and take action. However, articles like these need to get around, otherwise people aren't exposed to the information.

I spent quite a bit of time on this, so I'm passing the info on, so that others can benefit from the search. Here is some useful information about Fery:

You can find his listed sites on Technorati, and his username is, ximplix. The user page is;
technorati.com/people/technorati/ximplix
Take a look, and see if your content can be found on one of these sites. You'll be surprised at what you find.

Fery's e-mail address is;
Fery Kurniawan Tjahyono (unholy20@gmail.com)

user information to the site I found my content on, is;
http://who.godaddy.com/WhoIs.aspx?domain=emree.net&prog_id=godaddy

The link to the Adsense TOS violation form;
www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/request.py?search_ask=1&subtopic=&contac...
It only takes a couple of minutes to fill this short form out.

I followed the reporting procedure I read at, onecoolsite.wordpress.com . The link will lead you to the mentioned post. It did not take much time to go through the steps, once I had finished searching for all of the information.

Lastly. I am asking you all to bookmark this article to your social sites, whether they be; stumbleupon, delicious, digg, or whatever. These are the avenues in which we bloggers communicate information. So, pass it on to people on your list of friends. Your content may not be stolen by Fery, but the content of someone on one of your lists may be stolen. This info will help them out, and save everyone time. It may be yourself in the near future.

And, to Fery. Immediately remove my content from your sites, and the content of everyone else.

Thanks for the heads up Pentad!

A bit overwhelming to go through those 90 blogs... Hope you get this scumbag to remove your content!

Maybe if enough people complain to AdSense he's going to get his publisher ID banned and all those blogspot blogs Turn OFF!!!

Anyway, don't stress it too much, I visited maybe half a dozen of is "blogs" and none of them had PR...

Regards, Pete

Stumbled it! Blogger, GoDaddy and Google look like obvious points of call. Very good luck. Written to you about it elsewhere.

Thanks for sharing, Pentad! Here's a tip that I use: If you're using WordPress, there is a plugin called Digital fingerprint that inserts some text of your choosing at into every post's rss feed. It is not visible on your site proper, only on the feed, which is what these thieves use to scrape your content. So for example, I like to include something like "copyright techne-eikon.com 05/08".

The I go to Gmail and set up a Google Alert for that phrase. Anytime it shows up on somebody's site, I get an alert within the day, and can deal with it immediately. Using this method, I have located 5 or 6 content thieves. An immediate email (quick response often scares them) has solved the problem.

If you're not using WordPress, then I would simply build a unique phrase into every article, such as "this article coprwite techne-eikon.com". Note the misspelling of copyright... Set up an alert, and off you go. Should you write something for mass distribution, either leave off the text, or correct the spelling as you like.

Here's where you can find the plugin: http://www.maxpower.ca/wordpress-plugin-digital-fingerprint-detecting-content-theft/2006/09/25/

Cheers, Marc

@marc. THANK YOU! so much for this tip. It was fantastic, and I hope everyone reads it. I do not have wordpress, but I will definitely fix something for blogger as you suggested.

You see. I do not know much about these subjects, but I had a sneaky suspicion that it had to do with my feed. That it was happening throught that avenue. You confirmed this for me. Thanks again! I learned something new today.

I use google daily alerts to check for certain posts I write but no one has stolen any yet. Don't you maybe feel a "tiny" bit proud to have it nicked.. OK, so if it was by a human maybe. Actually, I cant remember where I was going with this! But either way, I had a lookie and I am clean.

This guy has to be caught, because hard working bloggers like Pentad, myself and many others content is being stolen. There are people who are being banned from Google because of duplicate content. This guy must be stopped.

Tamera said...

@sy. Not too proud, no..haha. It took up a lot of time to straighten it out. I'm glad that you are clean!

@lamystique. Perhaps, he should share the profits from our work. LOL. Just joking.

Hey there Pentad,

Wow, so this idiot's still at it, huh? What a low-life! I'm sorry you've had it done to you as well - and that excuse of his is pathetic!!

I'll post a follow-up on this tomorrow, and link into your blog - like you say, the more we "promote" good old Fery, the less he may be able to get away with this.

Cheers, speak soon,

Danny.

I dislike and disrespect any kind of thief. This Fery being obviously doesn't have enough imagination to come up with his or her own material. And if they're somehow making money off this, it shows they lack decency, as well.

@kelly. And, irritating using the time to deal with it!

@Danny. Thank you!

Excellent post Lady T.

I have had similar problems and found my articles stolen and used in various sources on the web, or used to draw people in to sites that have no connection with me.

It's deeply jarring to say the least. My attempts to get the work removed have come to nothing.

Some good advice and tips from your post and replies. Many thanks

The NERVE of some people!

@mikiye. Thank you so much.

Wow Tamera! Thank you for the heads up! I've chatted with a few people who've been very VERY upset over learning their writings have been taken and passed off as the thief's own. Very Frustrating!

I hope all is well with you! :)
